dc.description.abstractThis study aims to highlight the role of women in the society of Algiers during the Ottoman period (1519–1830). The research examines their social status, attributes, and various social classes. Additionally, it explores the customs and traditions of women in Ottoman Algiers, covering aspects such as marriage, divorce, clothing, jewelry, housing, and so forth. The study also focuses on the various facets of women’s daily practices within the Algiers community during that period, analyzing each social group separately. It further addresses the influences and interactions among different groups of women, along with their roles in family life, as well as their contributions to the political, economic, religious, and cultural spheres of their society.EN_en
