This research explores the role of Electronic Payment Terminals (TPE) in enhancing domestic trade in Algeria. It combines theoretical analysis with an applied case study of the Local Development Bank (BDL) in Ghardaia. The study examines the evolution of electronic payment systems, their types, and their economic and functional impact, particularly in reducing cash dependency and improving transaction efficiency. A field study involving merchants and customers revealed that although the use of TPE devices is increasing, several challenges persist—such as limited awareness, low trust, and infrastructural issues. The findings highlight that electronic payments are a critical pillar for Algeria’s digital transformation, requiring coordinated efforts to maximize their economic and social benefitsEN_en
