Abstract:
In the saadian period, morocco witnessed in the saadian
period, morocco witnessed important political events, including
the larache case in the year 1019 ah /1610 ad, which is one of
the most important political events in morocco during the 17th
century ad. as al mansour pursued a foreign policy characterized
by duplicity in dealing with the spaniards, tending to cautious
peace at times and hostility at other times, and following the
death of al mansour al-dhahabi (1578-1603 ad), the most famous
of the Saadian sultans, morocco entered a state of political
chaos. Because of the conflict that intensified between his heirs
over the throne, one of his sons, almamoun, pushed for the
assistance of the Spanish king in return for handing over the port
of larache. the decision to hand over the port to the spaniards
provoked angry reactions from Moroccans in general.
