Abstract:
This study aimed to study the role played by the Makhzen tribes
in Algeria during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, where the
Ottoman authority relied on a local force represented in these tribes, in
order to achieve its goals, given that the Makhzen tribes were a link
between the authority and the population of Algeria, and in return
Their services and loyalty to the Ottomans The Makhzen tribes were
getting many privileges and facilities without any of the residents;
This is because it contributed greatly to the establishment and
consolidation of the Ottoman rule in Algeria and its expansion across
the various regions in the country.
